Dreams and Visions: Understanding and Interpreting God's Messages to You

If you have a dream and feel that God has given it to you, prayerfully examine the Word of God and make sure your dream is in agreement with Scripture. If so, prayerfully consider what God would have you do in response to your dream James It is clear that there have been numerous occasions in which God has chosen to communicate with mankind through dreams and visions. He guides and counsels through dreams. He has established covenants through our dreams. He has granted gifts through dreams.

From Genesis to Revelation, God has used dreams and declared that He will continue to use them in the last days. When you total up all dreams and visions in the Bible, and all the stories and actions which come out of these dreams and visions, you have about one-third of the Bible, which is equal to the size of the New Testament! Dreams are a central way God has chosen to communicate with us, and thus they must be given great weight!

Dream Interpretation: how to interpret dreams

Are our dreams from God? We do not interpret dreams. We strongly believe that a person's dreams and the meaning of those dreams is between them and God alone.

Does God still speak through dreams? God has spoken to people many times throughout the Scriptures by means of dreams. There is also a quotation of Joel the prophet made by Peter in Acts that mentions dreams.

Every 90 to minutes your body cycles through the four stages of sleep , entering REM sleep, which marks the onset of dreaming. In the Bible, communicating with God through dreams and visions is discussed in more than 10 instances. For example, the prophet Joel speaks of a time when God will come to us in dream form:. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions. However, the four stages of sleep can make it difficult to recall your dreams and decipher if they are a message from God. Since our brain remains active at night, other stimuli can trigger a dream.

For example, your brain could be overloaded from a long day, stress, worry or poor health.
